We go to extraordinary lengths to ensure that every element of our menu has been grown or reared ourselves or sourced from local Dorset suppliers who we feel share our ideals. Every dish has been carefully designed around the best of the season and showcases the amazing produce that our beautiful region has to offer.
Almost all the salads, herbs and vegetables on our menu come from our own kitchen garden which is now housed at our small farm, Abbots Court in Winterborne Kingston. We are restoring an original Victorian walled kitchen garden here as well as cultivating the plot into a fully functioning permaculture that is both sustainable and ethical as well as producing incredibly tasty and healthy ingredients for us to use in our menus. We are also exploring the wealth of heirloom and heritage varieties native to the uk.
We keep a herd of rare breed Oxford, Sandy and Black pigs here as well as our lovely chickens and we are soon to be home to another small herd of Poll Dorset sheep and lambs. We have bees as well and this year we hope to have more of our lovely honey to use at The Tickled Pig.
We love it when customers pop up to see what we are doing at Abbots Court and even if you are not booking in for a luxurious nights stay and dinner we are always happy to show people around...please pop in to say hello anytime!
